Change of Plan

For many weeks now I have been having doubts about the trip into Eastern Europe. Not about actually doing the trip but the way I was going about it, the timing of it and splitting it up rather than just doing it as one continuous journey.

I have spoken to many people about it and have come to the conclusion that with it being such big trip it has to be done right. So after lots of thinking I have decided to delay the trip until May 1st 2009 and change the route slightly.

Eastern Europe!

Today is the beginning of June, I set myself a deadline for today to decide on my next trip, well after months and months of changing my mind I have finally settled on Eastern Europe. This was always going to be my next trip as I am fascinated with the region, mainly because I have never been there and know very little about it, but the problem was making my mind up on the duration, which countries to visit and when to go. I have decided to start the journey this November in Berlin, the journey will be broken up into different times of the year and in total I will probably be on the road around three/four months, I hope to complete the journey in the summer of 2009.

As I write this I am looking out of my study window waiting for the sun to appear from behind the dark clouds. In fact we here in the UK are all waiting for the summer to begin but just in case we don’t get to see any sun this summer, and believe me it could happen, my family and I have booked a villa in Portugal for August. It will be my first trip to Lagos, my girlfriend has been there a few times before and assures me it is very beautiful indeed.

All I seem to be doing lately is paying for flights and today was no exception. I booked a one way ticket to the UK with Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong. I will touch down in London at 05.45 on the 20th September. Goodbye Australia and hello Europe.

Today I confirmed my next trip by booking the flights to Darwin for August 27th with Virgin Blue. Originally I was going to book them for the 15th however with me now delaying my return to the UK until September 20th this works out better for me.

Well today I went online to book my flights to Berlin for September but ended up buying a ticket to Prague, once again my fickleness has struck. I have always wanted to visit Prague and when I saw how cheap the tickets were I couldn’t resist. The dates are September 24th - September 29th.

Today I celebrated my 26th birthday.

It's been a very productive week as far as decisions go. The date for my next trip which is 'The Australian Outback' has been set for August 15th and will take around two weeks to travel from Darwin South to Adelaide. Also I have added another trip for this year which will be to Berlin and the dates for that are September 20th - 25th. And Finally I'm moving back to England in September, it was between living in London or Nottingham, I decided on Nottingham.

This afternoon I arrived back from my trip around New Zealand with all of the mixed feelings of wanting to stay on the road but also pleased to be back home. It was a short but very good trip, i knew i didn't have time to see everything but it did give me a real taste of the country and im sure at one point i will get back to explore the rest of it. I will spend the next few days catching up on the boring stuff like doing my washing and opening the mail and then will get on with writing up my diary and putting the pictures on the web site.

I hope three weeks will give me enough time to get around new Zealand, I would prefer to have six months to appreciate the country all over but I have neither the time or funds, Three weeks will give me enough time to see the highlights and I think my itinerary will give me a great insight into New Zealand. I booked my flight back today, leave Auckland on May 9th with Virgin Blue.

Today I booked a flight home to London via Bangkok for August 2nd 2007. We fly from Melbourne to Bangkok where we will spend eight days exploring the Thai capital. It will be good ticking off another great place and to return home to see friends and family will be just as exciting!

Due to advice given to me about the crowds in New Zealand around Easter time I have decided to push back the trip a few weeks, I will now be travelling to New Zealand on April 17th, I changed my flight this morning.

My trip to New Zealand is now confirmed for March 21st 2007. I booked the flight this morning with Pacific Blue flying into Christchurch on the South Island. I will fly back to Melbourne from Auckland on the North Island but I'm yet to decide a return date.
